If you are ever in the vicinity of Subang Jaya during the afternoon and looking for some good grub, do pop over to this absolutely-scrumptious Fried Chicken stall – Lim Fried Chicken (LFC). This is just about the most yummy Fried Chicken I have ever tasted in the Klang Valley!

Mr Lim fries the generous cuts of perfectly-marinated chicken in a huge wok…

Look at the beautifully-fried chicken … all golden-brown crunchiness on the outside – the skin is so crispy that one bite is never enough…
The constant stream of customers ensures that the fried chicken disappear as soon as they are lifted from the boiling oil in the wok…
Everyone comes here to get the Fried Chicken, which you can have with either nasi lemak or chee cheong fun. The Lims sell a few other dishes besides the fried chicken – simple fare like asam fish, cabbage, long beans, fried fish, curry chicken…

I packed some curry chee cheong fun to go with the fried chicken…yummyyyyy! (warning: if you pack the fried chicken to take home, the irresistible aroma in the car will render you almost-incapable of driving without pinching some bits to munch on the way! seriously)

So, KFC… move over… I think LFC is a much better choice, hehe!

If you’re from Subang Jaya, and you don’t know about Lim Fried Chicken Stall (don’t know why its not Lim’s), you should be ashamed of yourself. This is probably the most famous ‘Chap Fan’ place in Subang Jaya. I would also say that it sells the best fried chicken in Subang Jaya.

One of Mrs Lim’s son used to be my classmate back in primary school. We used to joke that he’s eaten so much ‘nasi lemak’, that’s why he doesn’t eat them in the school canteen.

In the morning, this place usually serves nasi lemak and curry chee cheong fun. The chicken will only be served from 2.30 onwards. The fried chicken is the main draw to this place. I’m not sure if they doped the thing, but it certainly is very addictive. People are willing to queue a good 20mins for a piece of this (I’m not joking).

Anyway, finding a parking shouldn’t be a problem if you don’t mind walking. Parking isn’t the only queue. From 2.30pm onwards, be prepared to line up for the chicken. To make matters worst, finding a place to sit down in the restaurant can be a problem. Then again, don’t complain if you want a taste of the chicken.

Fried Chicken with some Lettuce and Rice

The chicken is very juicy, extra crispy, and very tasty. I found it a little too salty for my liking. However when eaten with rice, it goes just fine. Don’t be surprise if you find yourself wanting to come back for more. The other dishes are just complements to the chicken. Nothing really great about them. The Cheong Fun and the rice was RM13 in total.

All in all, I certainly would be back for more. Who needs Kentucky when you can get Lim’s Fried Chicken?

Pricing: Under RM10 per person

Apologies for the lack of blog posts as I admit I’ve been caught in a blogging funk lately. While I’ve been chomping around the whole of Klang Valley, it has been numerous revisits to certain places that I’ve still not made up my mind about or to old haunts like this super popular fried chicken stall in Subang Jaya. Strangely enough, looking for great places to eat that maintain their standards have been super hard lately. Not sure if this is a sign of times that food proprietors don’t care much about quality.
Back to this ultra sinful place you don’t want to tell your doctor about. This is my go-to-place for a mid-week pick-me-up. Occasionally I’ll starve myself (since I rarely wake up in time for breakfast) till 2 to 2.30pm specially for this treat. Beating KFC and Popeyes hands down, the fried chicken here is freshly prepped (I suspect from the nearby morning market) and deep-fried in super boiling hot oil to produce to-die-for crispy skin (leave it for the last to savour).
Just bear the crazy queues that snake around this humble little stall. You can opt to have Chinese style nasi lemak or curry chee cheong fun with your fried chicken. Their nasi lemak version won’t win them any awards since it is just plain rice splashed with a bright red sweet yet not spicy sambal. You get a choice of dishes to eat your carbs with – mussels, assam fish, fried fish, greens like cabbage or long beans, and a pretty decent chicken curry. So go forth and clog up those arteries with this golden brown fried chicken.
